The Santa Monica Film Festival returns for it’s 17th edition on Sunday Jan 22nd with a fully hybrid film festival offering in-person screenings at AMC 4 in Santa Monica and virtual screenings streaming on xolo.tv (Santa Monica, CA) — The 17th Santa Monica Film Festival returns to showcase award winning independent films from local, national and international filmmakers including the west coast premiere of Moby’s directorial debut “Punk Rock Vegan Movie”.

CLOSING FILM – WEST COAST PREMIERE
‘Punk Rock Vegan Movie,’ a new documentary written and directed by Moby, will have its west coast premiere and be the Closing film for the 2023 Santa Monica Film Festival on January 22 in Santa Monica, CA with Q&A moderated by KCRW’s Anthony Valadez. The film, which is Moby’s directorial debut, is a passionate and stylistically idiosyncratic look at the ongoing relationship between the worlds of punk rock and animal rights. It includes interviews with some of the biggest names in punk and rock history, like Ian Mackaye, HR, Dave Navarro, Ray Cappo, Andrew Hurley, Tony Kanal, Tim McIlrath, Water Schreifels, Dave Dictor, Derrick Green, Steve Ignorant, Theo Kogan, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, Amy Lee, and Captain Sensible.
