GOSHEN — Goshen Theater is hosting several events in the month of February.
The Boys and Girls Club Art Show
Come see the artistry of the Boys and Girls Club art students. This art installation from the Boys and Girls Club of Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties will be on display in the Goshen Theater Lobby starting Jan. 27 through the month of February. You can stop in during upcoming events and regular Box Office hours to take in the show.
Box Office hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
First Fridays
The Boys and Girls Club Art Show will also be on display from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 3, during the theater’s open house during First Fridays Downtown.
During First Fridays, kids and kids at heart can stop in to help Goshen Theater decorate the theater lobby with a chain of hearts! Decorate your heart, write a special message to share or simply add your favorite color to the mix. By the end of the evening, Goshen Theater wants to have enough chains to decorate the whole lobby.
Don’t forget to grab your favorite sweet treat with your special someone, and stop at the bar to try the theater’s “Love Potion No. 9”, which is vodka mixed with cranberry juice with a lime garnishment.

An Evening With Lotus
Goshen Arts and Events and 91.1 The Globe Radio presents An Evening with Lotus. Come to the Miller Auditorium at Goshen Theater at 8 p.m. Feb. 7. The band will play in Goshen, the town where it all started in 1998. Doors unlock at 7 p.m., and there will be two sets.
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
Bar and concessions will be available for purchase.

Free Movie Night
Goshen Theater is proud to partner with the Boys and Girls Club for their monthly Free Movie Night showing of “The Princess and The Frog” at 7 p.m. Feb. 10, at Goshen Theater, 216 S. Main St., Goshen.
Hardworking and ambitious, Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) dreams of one day opening the finest restaurant in New Orleans, La. Her dream takes a slight detour when she meets Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos), who has been turned into an amphibian by evil Dr. Facilier. Mistaking her for a princess and hoping to break the spell, Naveen plants a kiss on poor Tiana — thereby turning her into a frog as well. The pair hop along on an adventure through the bayous to seek the help of a powerful voodoo priestess.
The movie has a runtime of one hour and 37 minutes and is rated G.
Admission to this event is free, but donations are encouraged. Seating is limited.
Doors open at 6 p.m. to view the Boys and Girls Club Art Installation, featuring art from students at the Boys and Girls Club. Seating for the movie begins at 6:30 p.m.. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Acting Showcase
Goshen Theater Drama Club’s Acting Showcase will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 18.
The theater’s Drama Club acting students have been hard at work for the past five weeks in their Monologue/Scene Study class, and now they are ready to share their pieces with family, friends and fans.
Ticket are $5.

Improv/Devised Theater Classes
Improv/Devised Theater classes begin Feb. 20.
Students will collaborate with their peers through improvisation to create a story to be turned into a script. After helping to create their story, students will audition for what role they will play for the final showcase. All students will workshop, memorize and perform their short plays for family, friends, and fans at 7 p.m. April 15.
Classes are held Mondays, beginning Feb. 20.
- 4:30-6 p.m. Acting Studio One (ages 8-10 years)
- 6-7:30 p.m. Acting Studio Two (ages 11-14 years)
- 7:30-9 p.m. Acting Studio Three (ages 15-18 years)

Have you ever wanted to get involved at Goshen Theater?
Goshen Theater runs on volunteers. They have some a lot of events planned for 2023, but they are going to need your help to make them a success. Give back to your local theater, and enjoy some perks along the way.
Goshen Theater Volunteers receive free admission to events they volunteer for, the chance to meet and work with new people, the “behind the scenes” experience of working in a historic theater, the chance to engage their fellow community members and free concessions while you volunteer.
The theater is always on the lookout for office assistance, technical support, ushers, bartenders, concession workers, greeters, box office attendants and more.

Game-Changing Plans At Goshen Theater
Goshen Theater Board and Staff members have been gratified by the great attendance and positive responses to their many new programs and events in 2022. The past year has been one of growth for the theater. Finally fully staffed, the theater has been able to offer more substantial theater, music, education, visual arts and events, focused on showcasing local and regional talent while also hosting artists in every discipline from outside of the immediate community. They want to know what you think. Is this a good trajectory for Goshen Theater? Is there something you would like to see take place at GT? Would you like to be more involved?
On Feb. 15, the theater will initiate a facilitated strategic planning process which will address those questions and more. Working with Webb Management, consultants in the arts sector, out of New York, Goshen Theater will be engaging the community in a number of discussions, conducted by private interviews and group discussions. In later February, the theater will be reaching out to community leadership, artists, arts educators, GT members, volunteers and many other stakeholders to set up interviews. The purpose is to collect information that will enable the team to understand Goshen Theater’s past and present and help guide them toward a vibrant, connected and impactful future. Many will be asked to participate in these conversations.
