Sports Illustrated released its Heisman Trophy Odds for the 2023 season and ranked Drew Allar in a tie for the No. 10 spot at +1700.
He currently sits a few spots ahead of Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who landed at +2200 in Sports Illustrated’s prediction. Allar is tied with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels and Tennessee signal-caller Joe Milton at +1700.
Allar has certainly had high expectations on his back since his arrival at Penn State one year ago. With some impressive, albeit brief, appearances this past season, the hype is real for the former five-star recruit heading into 2023.
Allar appeared in 10 games during the 2022 season, throwing for 344 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions while mostly appearing in garbage time in relief of Sean Clifford. Allar added 52 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground.
Fellow Nittany Lion and freshman phenom Nick Singleton also found himself inside the top 20 and is +3500 to win the award, which ties him with Michigan running back Donovan Edwards. Singleton tallied 1,061 yards and made his way into the end zone 14 times (12 rushing, one receiving, one kick return) during his freshman campaign.
Allar and Singleton are expected to lead the way for a young Nittany Lion roster next year that is set to feature other budding stars Kaytron Allen, Abdul Carter, and Chop Robinson. Early predictions have Penn State landing within the top 10 of prediction polls and in the mix for the College Football Playoff, according to ESPN.
