IVE recently attended the 14th Melon Music Awards (also known as MMAs), and fans were in awe at the group’s incredible performances. The talented rookie group also won the awards for “Melon Top 10 Award,” “Best Group: Female,” “New Artist of the Year,” and Best Song of the Year Daesang.”
Although IVE had an incredibly successful appearance at the award show, Red Velvet fans are now calling out Starship Entertainment for allegedly plagiarizing Red Velvet’s “One Of These Nights.”
Red Velvet released the music video for “One Of These Nights” in March 2016, and fans love the melancholic yet beautiful music video. The song was especially meaningful as many fans believe the music video is a tribute to the victims of the Sewol tragedy.
At the 14th Melon Music Awards, IVE’s performance started with Liz‘s beautiful piano rendition of “ELEVEN” before the members performed their hit songs “LOVE DIVE” and “After LIKE,” complete with some incredible dance breaks.

But the VCR that played between “Love Dive” and “After Like” caught the attention of netizens as many of the scenes were remarkably similar to Red Velvet’s “One Of These Nights.”
Some Red Velvet fans even created a shot-by-shot comparison to show how identical the two videos are.

Given how meaningful “One Of These Nights” is, fans are voicing their displeasure with the similarities, demanding an explanation and apology from Starship Entertainment. Fans are especially frustrated since although “One Of These Nights” was a meaningful tribute, IVE’s VCR used such similar shots to simply portray “an unforgettable party,” according to the VCR narration.

Why does Ive’s VCR copy RedVelvet’s MV? This is apparently a copy of a video clip of one of these nights in Red Velvet. I hope Starship can explain. Play a plagiarized VCR in public on such a big occasion. pic.twitter.com/u1rHO97UPU

Fans also believe IVE should receive an apology since it was a momentous award show for the rookie group, but now the VCR is being criticized.
