One of the films making its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival is a rom-com horror movie called Your Monster starring Melissa Barrera ( Scream 6 ). And we finally have a first look at the film. Written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Caroline Lindy, Your Monster tells the story of a “soft-spoken actress” named Laura Franco whose life is falling apart. As described in the official synopsis released by Sundance, Laura “finds her voice again when she meets a terrifying, yet weirdly charming, monster living in her closet.” In the first look photos you can see Barrera in matching outfits with two other women and a matching blank stare, dancing with the monster while dressed as the Bride of Frankenstein, and then sitting with the monster and sharing a moment in what we can assume is her living room. “Excited to share that Your Monster will be premiering at Sundance this January!” Barrera wrote on social media. “So proud of the whole team who made this magical movie possible. Cannot wait to share this story with all of you.” The first look at Your Monster comes after Barrera, who played Sam Carpenter in the last two Scream movies, was fired from the franchise for her social media posts in support of Palestine. Spyglass Media Group, the production company behind the Scream movies, released a statement in regards to Melissa Barrera that said: “We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.” Other Latine talent who will be featured in films at the Sundance Film Festival include Pedro Pascal ( Freaky Tales ), Sasha Calle ( In the Summers ), Indya Moore ( Ponyboi ), Aubrey Plaza ( My Old Ass ), Camila Cabello ( Rob Peace ), Danny Ramirez ( Winner ), and Adria Arjona ( Hit Man ).
