The LEGO Movie celebrates 10th anniversary with director secrets The co-director of the LEGO Movie has taken to social media to share behind-the-scenes secrets from the film to celebrate its 10th anniversary. It may be hard to believe, but it really has been a whole decade since the LEGO Movie opened on screens across the US. The film would go on to earn over $468 million worldwide, spawn multiple LEGO sets, its own sequel, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, and cinematic spin-offs such as The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO NINJAGO Movie. Now the film that started it also is celebrating, as the LEGO Movie has reached its 10th anniversary today (happy birthday!). Although there haven’t been any official nods from parent company Warner Bros. to mark the occasion, one of the film’s co-directors has taken to social media to reveal behind-the-scenes secrets from its production. Christopher Miller has dropped a few posts regarding the LEGO Movie, stating that making it was both ‘a joyful experience’ and ‘a celebration of creativity.’ In addition, Miller also revealed how some of the film’s brick-based effects were actually achieved. Miller went on to say, “When shooting minifig shots in the live-action scenes, it was impossible to fit a regular clacker in the shot, so a crew member built this mini clacker out of LEGO.” A new LEGO movie was recently announced, with Piece by Piece due out October 11, 2024. The film will be a brick-based biopic of superstar rapper and producer Pharrell Williams and represents a collaboration between the artist, the LEGO Group and Focus Features.
