The fourth film will likely start shooting in May, per the publication, and will reportedly continue the romantic plotlines from the first three films, which were based on novels by author Helen Fielding. Colin Firth and Hugh Grant are apparently expected to return for the newest flick, too. In Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third film installment from 2016, we left Bridget as a new mom after marrying longtime love interest, Colin Firth. The upcoming feature, the Daily Mail notes, will focus on Bridget as a 51-year-old single mom navigating today’s frustrating dating landscape. Filming is being mapped out already and all of the pre-production is in place,” a source told the Daily Mail. “There was some uncertainty about whether it would get off the ground, but the movie is coming. Renée is excited about bringing Bridget back. She adores the character so much. Bridget Jones fever is expected to sweep across London this spring.” The publication also claims Zellweger and her boyfriend, Ant Anstead, are looking for a house in London to use as a home base while she’s filming. The very first film, Bridget Jones’s Diary, was released in 2001. It became an international sensation, amassing about $281 million at the box office and earning Zellweger a Best Leading Actress Oscar nomination and Best Leading Actress – Comedy or Musical Golden Globe nod.
