Andy Cohen Believes ‘RHONJ’ Would ‘Be Great’ Without Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga!
Andy Cohen believes that the Real Housewives of New Jersey could go on without Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga in the mix.
The Bravo executive referenced a rough Season 13 reunion experience while weighing in on a potential cast without the feuding sisters-in-law, during a recent episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”
He compared hosting the Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion to rehashing an explosive cheating scandal with the divided cast of “Vanderpump Rules.”
“It was so intense. It was so exhausting. I lost my cool,” Cohen said. “Vanderpump really was, you just kinda put a quarter in and everybody did their thing. They all were so revved up and they couldn’t wait to confront Tom that I really just needed to kinda try and be a traffic cop and make sure no fists were thrown.”
He added — “But [RHONJ] was tough.”
Cohen shared that he hoped that both Teresa and Melissa would return to the Bravo series, but made sure to add that he believed that the show could successfully go on without them.
“I think there’s a world that anything can happen. I don’t think we’re at that place yet,” Cohen said. “I don’t think we need to. I think there’s, I think you could keep them both on, you could take one or the other off, or you could take them both off, and the show would still be great.”
Cohen recently told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that he could still see a scenario where Teresa and Melissa could co-exist on the same cast.
“Sure,” he said after taking a pause. “I think there’s a world where anything could happen.”
Tensions boiled over during Season 13 after it was revealed that Teresa Giudice had been involved in spreading a cheating rumor about her sister-in-law. The revelation led to Melissa and Joe, brother to Teresa, ditching Teresa and now-husband, Luis Ruelas’ lavish wedding.
Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga faced off during the Season 13 reunion, during which Teresa proclaimed that her relationship with Melissa was over.
Cohen previously asserted that the pair’s relationship would likely never bounce back.
“I kind of think they are done. I don’t know. I have some thoughts about what I think may be coming up for them that I won’t share here and you know, we will see,” Cohen said during a May 17 appearance on the “Chicks in the Office” podcast.
In May, former Real Housewives of New Jersey producer, Carlos King, said that Melissa and her husband, Joe Gorga, should be axed from the franchise.
“I think it’s time for the Gorgas to go. I’m not going to say anything badly about them,” King said during an appearance on the “Two Ts In a Pod” podcast, in late May.
The producer clarified that he believed that “Melissa was fantastic for the show at one point in time,” and that “Joe Gorga is one of the best Househusbands of all time.” The “Reality with the King” podcaster noted that Melissa should have been more transparent about her personal life, adding that the family feud storyline had become too repetitive.
Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 cast has yet to be announced, as production has reportedly been paused amid the family drama.
