Let the speculation begin! James Gunn recently shared a photo on Twitter showing off a cheese plate. But, of course, fans would wonder why Gunn would share a photo of just a cheese plate, so they started looking in the background for clues that could hint to some upcoming DC Studios film projects because that’s just what fans do when they have too much free time on their hands!
While the cheese plate is certainly impressive, one fan spotted a stack of books on a table in the background. One fan believes they were planted there and asked if anyone was able to figure out what the books might be. Then someone shared a possible answer with a photo of a stack of Batman Omnibus books from writer Grant Morrison.
So, now social media and the internet is going wild over the possibility that James Gunn is teasing that Batman movie being developed for DC Studios will be inspired by Grant Morrison’s stories. Check out the series of Tweets below:

Big chance they are all three Morrison omnis, and the lens blur is making the yellow spine less noticeable. As for the other books, they don’t look like standard tpb size. Could ether be unconnected or maybe a DC history book of we are sticking with possible DC stuff pic.twitter.com/EurDcg2RQR

A fan previously asked Gunn if Batman would play a role in the DC Universe and the filmmaker said that “he’s a big part of the DCU.” So, we know that a new version of Batman is definitely coming, we just don’t know what exactly that will look like. But, if Morrison’s stories are actually going to serve as inspiration for the next Batman movie, that would be awesome!
But, James Gunn responded to the Tweet, confirming those are the books, but says he wasn’t hinting at anything. He said: “Yes, that’s what they were. No, they weren’t meant as a hint. Two of the volumes (2 & 3) just happened to be on my coffee table. Yes, I’ve read them a lot & love them. Grant’s Batman & Robin (& their Superman) are some of my favorites.”
