It seems Sony’s live-action One-Punch Man movie — based on the highly-popular animanga series, is still moving forward — albeit slowly. While Fast & Furious director Justin Lin is still set to helm, the project has found new writers in Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon and writer Heather Anne Campbell , who are currently reworking the script (via The Hollywood Reporter). The pair replaces Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker ( Jumanji: The Next Level and Venom ), coming in more than a year after production was expected to begin in late 2022. Long-time Sony producer Avi Arad will serve as producer alongside his son Ari. Not much else is known about the feature, including casting, a release date, and plot details. It’s also unclear if it will follow closely to the original manga, or feature a new take on the source material. More notably, the live-action One-Punch Man movie marks a reunion of sorts for Harmon and Lin — the duo previously worked together on a few episodes of American sitcom Community , which the former also created. In the meantime, the anime is finally getting a long-awaited third season. A release date has yet to be set, but the trailer offered a brief look at the central conflict involving villain Garou, and the action spectacle that’s to come. The synopsis for Season 3 reads, “Saitama is a hero who only became a hero for fun. After three years of “special training,” hes become so strong that he’s practically invincible. In fact, he’s too strong-even his mightiest opponents are taken out with a single punch. Alongside Genos, his faithful disciple, Saitama performs his official hero duties as a member of the Hero Association.” One day, monsters claiming to be from the Monster Association suddenly appeared, taking a child of Hero Association executive as a hostage. The S-class heroes gather and plan a raid on the Monster Association hideout to rescue the hostage. Meanwhile, Garou, a ‘human monster’ who was taken by the Monster Association during a battle with the heroes, awakens in the Monster Association hideout.”
