Malys Entertainment Center is coming to Conway later this year. The new center is part of a major development project in the area by The Maly Group, which is also developing a similar entertainment center in North Little Rock.
The development is taking place on a roughly 54-acre stretch of land on the southern edge of Conway along Dave Ward Drive. The land is owned and developed by Dr. James Thomas, who is also the owner of The Maly Group, and is already home to a Courtyard Hotel.
The entertainment center itself will be anchored around a 24-lane bowling alley. Eight of these lanes will be sectioned off from the others. This section will allow more privacy for corporate events and the like, but the eight lanes are also designed to allow for a recent version of the sport called “HyperBowling.”
In HyperBowling, rails lined with colored lights are raised over the gutters. Hit the right colors to multiply your score by knocking down the pins, while hitting a red light loses all points for the round. The design helps to even the playing field between new and experienced players, as knocking down a few pins with a high multiplier can be more valuable than a strike without one.
Other attractions will include 10 lanes of axe-throwing and a laser tag arena. The arena will consist of the main area with ramps leading up to a second, smaller level in the center, for a total of approximately 3,300 square feet. An arcade will feature both traditional arcade games and virtual reality games, some of which will give tickets for redeemable prizes. A restaurant area will come with a full menu of food ranging from nachos to burgers to pretzels to pork tenderloin, while a bar will serve alcoholic beverages including local craft beer.
The Maly Group expects construction to be mostly completed in August of 2023, with the full entertainment center coming out to about 57,000 square feet. The North Little Rock location will have the additions of a patio bar, beer garden and mini-golf course, but is still in the design phase at this time.
