Shortly after Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social platform this morning and called on his supporters to protest his likely imminent indictment by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, condemnation came from Democrats — and surprisingly, also from some of his most loyal supporters.
“IT’S TIME!!!” Trump wrote. “THEY’RE KILLING OUR NATION AS WE SIT BACK & WATCH. WE MUST SAVE AMERICA!PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!.
At least Trump didn’t scream about “boarders” this time lol pic.twitter.com/BbUaWfTuRC

Trump’s post was reminiscent of the language used prior to January 6th and the time the former-President told the far-right militia The Proud Boys to “stand back, and stand by.”
Now, MAGA followers are allegedly plotting to interrupt federal law enforcement officials from carrying out their orders.
“Trump’s radical supporters are planning on surrounding Mar-a-Lago and using rifles to shoot law enforcement on the scene to arrest Trump,” William LeGate tweeted.
“Surround Mar-A-Lago or wherever he currently is and prevent ‘law enforcement’ from entering,” a message board user named sir coffee wrote.
“what if they use choppers to circumvent the Patriot moat?” Hanging_Chad asked, to which a user known only as TheGunFairy replied, “Medium caliber rifles are surprisingly effective against low flying aircraft. 7.62×39 .223 and .308.”

Bill Kristol, the editor of the center-right-leaning political media outlet, the Bulwark, warned of bad faith actors after a social media post alleging that Antifa and BLM plan to infiltrate the movement.
The authoritarian playbook.
1. Trump invites the mob and incites violence.
2. Trump supporters pretend the violence will come the Left.
3. Further mobilization of “patriots” on the Right to “defend” against “thugs” funded by “Soros”. https://t.co/QquZ6xyJ0K

Long-serving Democratic leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) — who knows all too well the damage and impact of Trump’s rhetoric — acknowledged the ex-President’s pull with his followers, according to senior Fox News correspondent Chad Pergram.
“The former President’s announcement this morning is reckless: doing so to keep himself in the news and to foment unrest among his supporters. He cannot hide form his violations of the law, disrespect for our elections and incitements to violence,” Pelosi reportedly commented.
Criticism from the left isn’t surprising, but Trump acolyte and 2020 election denier Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) response to her idol’s calls for protests is shocking indeed.
“We don’t need to protest about the Communists Democrat’s planning to arrest Pres Trump and the political weaponization of our government and election interference,” Greene tweeted.

“On January 6, Trump sat idly as America’s elites painted the word “banana” in front of Republic,” estranged MAGA Milo Yiannopolis wrote on social media.
Apparently disgruntled at Trump’s failure to do more to help January 6 defendants, Yiannopolis accuses the former president of leaving his supporters “on the battlefield defenseless,” and saying Trump “wasn’t the victim” that day.

A vocal critic of the former President, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), accused Trump of malicious intent with his Truth Social rants.
“I started very early warning the American public about this president,” the congresswoman said on an episode of The Saturday Show with Jonathan Capehart.
“Most people have never seen or believed that we would have a president who has acted in the way that he has, who has disrespected the Constitution of the United States of America, who has lied, who has tried to organize domestic terrorists…He should be arrested. He should be indicted,” Waters continued.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen when he announces himself,” she added. “It’s almost like he’s attempting to organize his domestic terrorists to show up and resist him being arrested.”
A well-known narcissist, Trump never misses an opportunity to weaponize his already radicalized base with tales of persecution.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) warned against dismissing the former President’s rhetoric. Pointing out that it was Trump himself who alerted the public to the FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago home in August 2022.
“His goal is acts of violence in his name,” Swalwell tweeted. We must be prepared to protect against it.”
It was Donald Trump who broadcasted to the world the FBI raided his home to retrieve top secret documents. And it’s Donald Trump who has broadcasted to the world that he’ll soon be arrested. His goal is acts of violence in his name. And we must be prepared to protect against it.

Yes, we should. In the words of Rep. Waters, “He did it for a reason.”
